LONDON WEEKEND BREAKS

Theatres, tickets and box offices

London's Theatre Land is famous the world over and many London weekend breaks are planned to feature a show or theatrical performance as the highlight of at least one evening. Combining a London theatre show with dinner at a cosmopolitan city restaurant can often be the pinnacle of a London weekend break.

London's West End has an ever changing schedule of both international blockbuster shows and smaller niche plays and musicals and this ensures that there is something to entice and entertain everyone. Tickets and reservations for shows can be purchased over the internet via online box offices, or the theatres' own websites, but tickets for busy performances must be booked well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Shows range from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical extravaganzas to some of the more "high brow" classical plays by the world's most distinguished playwrights. The beauty of London's Theatre Land and its shows, plays and musicals, is that they manage to provide a show for every age and interest and many of the more commercial productions are ideal for families and not just singles, couples or adults.

As well as the more commercial and long running London shows, you can also choose to see iconic performances at the Opera, or by the London Ballet and there are comedy clubs and jazz clubs, plus some much larger venues offering live music performances.

London also premiers nearly every new movie before it goes on national UK release and this gives you the chance to see future Hollywood blockbusters during preview performances. It also offers the opportunity to see red carpet movie premiers attended by the films cast and crew, something rarely witnessed outside London.
