LONDON WEEKEND BREAKS - Madam Tussauds
Madam Tussauds features a world famous collection made up of wax replicas of famous and notorious people.
Those names included in the collection number historical figures, popular celebrities, members of the Royal family and major sporting stars. Some of the waxworks are long term exhibits whilst others represent an athlete or celebrity whose life in the museum is more transient and short lived.
What to see
The main categories for the wax dummies on display cover, cultural figures,
Royalty, musicians, Fashion, sporting starts, world leaders and TV stars. You will also find sections covering Big brother and Bollywood stars – I guess that represents the best of British culture these days.
Popular individual wax figures include Albert Einstein, Posh and Becks, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Diana and the Queen, Michael Jackson and Madonna, and Andy Murray and Tiger Woods.
This is definitely an easy attraction to visit and one that occupies family members of all ages and interests. The wax figures can be very realistic, but also sometimes strangely unlike the people that they mimic.
Most visitors to Madam Tussauds leave the venue either impressed or disappointed. Few visitors have no real opinion. Either way, it is a great attraction on a cold or rainy day and doubles up well with the Planetarium next door.
Location and entry
Madam Tussauds is just off Baker Street on Marylebone Road next to the London Planetarium and the Baker Street station is the closest Tube stop.
There are a number of different ticket options, but buying in advance, or using a London pass is the best way to organise a visit.
