LONDON WEEKEND BREAKS - Hyde Park
Hype park is one of London’s original royal parks and connects with Kensington Gardens.
The park is bisected by the river Serpentine and comprises 350 acres, although this swells to 625 acres when combined with Kensington Gardens.
Hyde Park first opened to the public in 1689 having previously been used exclusively by the extended nobility.
Highlights of the park include the Grand Entrance, adjacent to Apsley House, which
was designed in the early 19th century and the famous Speakers Corner. The Tyburn Gallows and the Holocaust Memorial are also associated with the park and remain popular with visitors.
These days Hyde Park is also a venue for numerous events ranging from organised protests to rock concerts and it remains an important part of London’s life and a location that sees all kinds of visitors and activities throughout the year.
