LONDON WEEKEND BREAKS - London Buses
London has a very good municipal bus and tram system and, like the Underground, it is heavily subsidised making getting around in London comparatively cheap. It can also be a versatile and easy to use system once you get to know it, but that is the catch.
The unfortunate thing about the London bus system is that anyone on a brief London
weekend break will probably find the shear number of buses, boroughs, routes and stops overwhelming.
For this reason, unless you have a predetermined travel plan, download the London bus routes in advance, and plan each stop and bus number before hand, you will probably be better advised to use the underground tube system. Ultimately it is just much easier to figure out and follow and, if you go wrong, your mistakes are easy to rectify.
London Travelcards can be purchased for one or three day use and are valid on the Tube, buses and trams (in some cases). If you buy one of these you have various modes of transport available to you during your weekend break.
If you want to down load the London bus maps for central London (day and night time), North West, North East, South West and South East London, along with the Tramlink system map and timetable, there is a link below these ads.
